Event Recap: Resilient Runner Wellness Day 2022
The first Resilient Runner Wellness Day event at Durant Vineyards was a great success and went off without a hitch.! Thank you to all of you who participated and who volunteered their time and resources including my wonderful husband Rob for checking in people and directing participants on the course and from event to event, and Karina for taking photos and capturing the wonderful day of events in pictures. Special thanks to our sponsors Durant Vineyards and owner Paul Durant for providing delicious food and wine, and to Amanda Johnson of Durant for making the day go off without a hitch behind the scenes preparing all the wonderful food, serving wine, and helping to set up a really great course through the Vineyard. Thanks to sponsors St Honoré for providing Choquettes, Melissa at Missionary Chocolates for providing delicious vegan truffles to pair with the wine, and KT Tape for donating full roll KT tape for our wonderful swag bags for the participants.
The weather was beautiful! The day started with a morning run through the slopes and hills of the olive orchards and vineyards, overlooking the Willamette Valley with the plump grapes near ready for harvest! The run was led by professional runner Nick Hauger who made the trek out all the way from Flagstaff Arizona to be there! Thanks Nick!
After the run, professional Pilates instructor and owner of Studio Blue Dan Walton led a lovey Pilates mat core and mobility session on the grass lawn over looking the vineyard. What a place to practice Pilates!
We the headed over to the olive mill, a lovely building over looking the olive orchards and vineyards where our cocktail hour wine and food were provided on the sunny deck and inside on the lovely tall bistro tables.
Then, the running medicine wellnesslectures series followed, including pro runner Nick Hauger who presented “Priorities of a Pro Distance Runner: You’re Only as Good as Your Recovery in Preparation.” I presented “The Resilient Runner: Reducing Running Related Injuries”, Dr. Laura Tremblay, MD presented on maximizing wellness controllable factors that can help us run injury free, and Dr. Jeremy Fields, MD, Neurovascular brain surgeon, presented on “The Effect of Exercise on Brain Physiology and Disease.”
The day concluded with a Q&A session and more social gatherings. All in all, it was a fantastic event! Thank you again to all who attended.
I’m excited to announce that Durant has requested that we continue to do this on a seasonal basis! Our next event is scheduled for Sunday, January 8, 2023. So mark your calendars and invite your friends!!
